  • Pixel Buds Pro balance issue

Hi,

does someone else have the problem with the Pixel Buds Pro, that everytime on the first connect after a while the balance is slightly off? When I reconnect the buds by placing them in the case or if I toggle AAC in the settings it gets corrected. After this the sound is "in the middle".

I am not sure if this is a problem with the firmware of the buds or with GrapheneOS. I read several threads on reddit where users have the same problem. I am running the Pixel 7 with latest GrapheneOS.

My set up is exactly the same as yours. Pixel Buds Pro with Pixel 7.

The balance being off has happened to me occasionally, but it's rare and certainly not every time.

I don't know if it will solve it, but it might be worth making sure the firmware on your Pixel Buds is up-to-date.

treequell The firmware is up to date, I don't know if the issues was present before. For me it is definitely everytime they were not connected for a longer time, e.g. 2h.

Afraid I'm not really sure what to suggest or why this would be happening.

I can have a play around to see if I can reproduce. When your buds are disconnected:

    • Do you have them stored in their case?
    • And do you have Bluetooth disabled in the quick tile on GrapheneOS?

I note that there is a setting to manually adjust the balance within the Pixel Buds app.

treequell It might have something to do with the fact that I have not installed the companion app installed on this phone. Perhaps they do some "magic" while connecting, that would be sad.

        No, I don't think it's that.

I spent at least two months using the Buds without ever installing the companion app, and I had no issues.

        10 days later

Today I got an update via a Google Pixel Phone, perhaps it solves the issue.

What is interesting: The Buds have not "Input device" capabilities. When I remove this permission and then reconnect the buds they are being removed from the list of paired devices. Tested on GrapheneOS and LineageOS. I have no idea why they need this permission and why it does not work without it.
