spiral By default, when on the home screen, pressing volume up/down controls "Media volume" even when there is no media being played. I'd like to change the default to control "ring and notification volume." Is it possible?
GrapheneOS spiral GraphyTaffy shapirus This is how it's supposed to work on modern Android. It's not supposed to behave differently based on whether media is playing. Android changed this years ago and it's working as intended.
shapirus Still an issue. Operating the volume rocker knob on the main screen when there's no media playing results in adjusting the media volume instead of the ringtone volume, which it should be. Any way to fix this?
shapirus I didn't realize that. Thanks. That's a brain damaged decision on the part of the android developers, if someone asked me. Probably it can be fixed with some 3rd-party software, then. Oh well.
shapirus There's a "Volfix" app that seems to do the job. FWIW, it seems to work for me on a brief check, even if looking abandoned. Hope this helps someone!
NetRunner88 It was the behaviour on versions prior android 9 I'm sure many of you have tried to preemptively turn down the volume as a YouTube video is loading, only to set your phone to vibrate and have the video play at full volume anyways. Nine years after Android was first released, this problem has finally been solved. https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/03/07/android-p-feature-spotlight-volume-buttons-change-media-volume-default-instead-ringer/
