Lack of accessibilty menu

Hi, I just noticed that GrapheneOS lacks the accesibility menu. I wanted to enable it to lock the screen without pressing the physical button, which I have confirmed works on stock OS, but in GrapheneOS there's no way to do it.

There's some alternatives like FOSS apps to add a widget with that function, but I don't think it's a good idea to give all the permissions they need to do so

The reason why this is not on GrapheneOS is most likely because it is not part of AOSP, but rather the Stock OS itself.

matchboxbananasynergy Could it actually be a bug? Because in Settings -> Accesibility -> General, you can customize that menu, specify the attenuation of the button, etc. but only the button itself is missing.

Crarar The accessibility button is not missing. For example, you can enable the Accessibility button for TalkBack from Accessibility settings.

As you say there is not an option provided by GrapheneOS to have the Accessibility button lock the screen. Only way would be a third party service, with the drawbacks you already pointed towards.

treequell Okay thank you, it just seems so strange to me because all I want is this exact talkback button, but to open the accesibility menu. It's OK if there's no way to directly lock the screen, but I can't even open the menu with it (although there's a section in the settings to customize it, so I don't really get it. Must be a 'leftover' with no real use)

Crarar I don't understand which menu you are referring to that you think is leftover.

I wonder if you are referring to the options in Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility shortcuts > Accessibility button & gesture. This is definitely not leftover. It affects how the Accessibility button displays.

treequell Oh okay, I get it. I was confused because in stock OS it would also change the shortcut to open the menu (that doesn't exist in GrapheneOS), but now it's only for Talkback I suppose

Crarar No it's not only for Talkback. If you install a third party app which has an accessibility service you'll have the option to enable it there.
