Unable to turn off System Updater notification for reboot prompt

Hi,

I enjoy Graphene but for a while now I've been unable to dismiss the notification reminding me to reboot when there is an update. I can turn off all system updater notifications except that one.

Is there a way to fix this so I can disable that notification as well? I don't want any notifications so I have to leave System Updater disabled and then reenable it when I'm actually ready to update the phone. Thanks!

Apart from the fact that system updates are obviously important and therefore the notifications about them are too (and probably greyed out for a reason): If you are only concerned about the reboot notification, you could toggle on Settings> System> System updates> Automatic reboot.

The device will reboot automatically after an update, and there is no reason for the system to remind you.

No, iirc there have been numerous users that dismissed/turned off that notification which led to them not being able to update at all, some facing boot loops, and other consequences.

ididntwanttomakeanaccount No, There is no way to dismiss update notifications, it is designed in that way to remind people to apply the patches asap.

It is not recommended but you can keep the updater app disabled like you mentioned or remove its network permission and manually check for updates, else you can enable require device to be charging to check for updates only when phone is in charging or permitted network to unmetered. This will not stop phone from checking for updates automatically but you know when it will check for updates.

Murcielago that's quite a stretch from "I need to plan my reboots for convenient moment and X bothers me" to "just have your phone reboot automatically, no need to plan!"

Some people rely on the actual software that doesn't start BFU...

Murcielago I agree updates are important and should be done as soon as possible. I like being reminded but I don't want the reminder to persist without being able to dismiss. Persistent notifications have an attention cost every time the phone is checked and contribute to alert fatigue. I'm aware I am more affected by this than most.

If I could dismiss but then it comes back the next day, then possibly more frequently after that, it would feel like a good balance between healthy reminders and providing user autonomy.

userofgos Thank you for sharing this! My question is answered. I would prefer autonomy in this situation (feels like someone trying to be my nanny) but now I know and I won't be wondering if it is a bug that will be fixed.
