  • Importing App Config Files from Another Phone

I have exported the configuration files from numerous apps on my old phone and transferred these files to my new GrapheneOS phone. I have installed these apps on my new phone and I would now like to import these config files that contain my settings. When I try to do this, the file picker appears, I am able to select the file I want, but the app is unable to see this file.

I read through the description of the storage permissions/scopes and they seem to prohibit what I would like to do. Is there a way around these restrictions?

Thank you,
Safe.Tea

Hi there! Here's what I'm understanding, and please correct me if I'm wrong:

You've used an app that has its own import/export functionality, made an export, transferred that export to your GrapheneOS device and are now trying to import it into the app, but you can't find the export file when looking at it through the file manager.

Can you give me an example of an app in which this happens?

A screen recording of your setup/process would also be ideal.

Looking forward to your reply.

matchboxbananasynergy Thanks for the help. Yes, you have described the process correctly but I will clarify the last point.

I able to find the export file through the file manager, however when I choose the file, the app tells me it can't access that file. (Sorry, I don't have the phone with me right now so I don't have the exact message)

I have tried with AnySoftKeyboard and K-9 Mail.

    Thanks,
