I was wondering if it would be possible to have a screen lock pattern with more than a 3x3 grid. I believe that it is possible with lineageOS but I have no idea if the implementation of such a feature could be a security issue.
Here is a preview of what I mean
[feature request] Numerous points screen lock pattern
We aren't going to be adding pattern unlock to GrapheneOS. It was removed intentionally as it is not reasonably secure. See: https://web.archive.org/web/20190301124321/https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/staff/wangz3/publications/ndss_17.pdf
Then doesn't it make more sense to completely remove the pattern lock option ?
The user facing ability to deploy pattern unlock is removed already.
I have pattern unlock available on my pixel running the latest version of graphene. Is it normal or is there something I don't understand ?
GrapheneUser789 Users who had setup pattern unlock before July 2021 will still be able to use it. If you were to remove it then you wouldn't be able to deploy pattern unlock again.
Got it, thanks.
However, if I understand the paper you linked, adding more points to pattern unock (like a 10x10 grid) would make much harder to guess the right pattern. But indeed, not the most secure option

GrapheneUser789 It was made so because it wouldn't break pattern for those previously using it as their lock method. Also it's a simple code change so very easy to maintain.

(the "study" is a broken link but it's the same one @flawedworld posted here)
