From the bits of info so far I reckon the Play Integrity API compatibility will remain unsolved huh? To be Google ceritifed you must bundle a bunch of Google apps with the system. So the new device will be just like Pixel, a phone with relockable bootloader you can flash GrapheneOS to. That correct?

GrapheneOS team said it earlier that the new partner could also make tab for them. is it possible that we may see the tab alongside the smartphone? and if no then any guesses how long it'll take for a GOS tablet?

(unsure of new partner but it's more likely going to be Motorola and I wish if the partner is Motorola then they do a moto tab version of Legion tab... that 8.8 inch size factor with all those flagship specs is a dream. I know it's just me wishing for such product but I hope if they do a tab they rebrand the Legion Y700)

The Pixel 6 is not going to receive updates beyond October '26. Should I wait for the new manufacturer's phone or get a Pixel 10(a)? Security seems to be bad from October '26 on for the Pixel 6, despite GOS' extended support, right?

Themble The OEM phone is supposed to come out in 2027. If the OEM is indeed Motorola, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that they're going to launch the device during the spring of 2027. Maybe even earlier since they've launched the Signature model this month.

I think you should be fine for a few months. You could buy a pixel 8a as a backup in any case. It will still get 5 more years of updates. It never hurts to have another phone on standby if something happens to your main one.

I would advice against making plans for depending on extended support for EOL devices at all. Especially so, since the time until that EOL happens is more than enough to find a cheap newer device.

I think Sony which wil financial be a good move.for them, their devices are high level quality but underrated because of their software. BlackBerry R.I.P would also be nice, they had a lot of premium quality devices as well...

GrapheneOS weakest point is being soley reliant on one manufacturer.

I would love it to be some OEM witch have specs like Motorola Signature. But is there really a chance that they would team up with chinise company like Motorola? That would be really odd.

I have used GrapheneOS under one week and I really hate that I needed to buy my first Pixel for this. They are just not in flagship league with anything but prize. Shitty battery with slow charging, absolutely garbage processor for over 1000€ phone etc.

For example Pixel 10 Pro weights 20 grams more than Motorola Signature with much smaller screen and worse battery stats. Actually Signature weights same as Pixel 9a. And Signatures performance is out of Googles league with much lighter phone.

I will propably use my Pixel 9a until they will tell the partners name and then buy their phone if im satisfyed with new partners phones. Or I just buy Pixel 10/11 Pro if there is no better phone out there with GOS that does not weight like over 230 grams.

In my opinion, Motorola make cheap shitty phones, which they don’t bother to keep up to date.

I gave up on them years ago, and started buying pixels.

Blastoidea agree with updates.. the battery capacity is quite ok. low end moto is good cellphone for grandparents. except the android update pushes some bloatware too. games. animated backgrounds.

You could also say on other phones you have some extra display next to the camera. Screen to body ratio is worse on those Sony phones. I liked it best back when there were pop up cameras like in the Xiaomi Mi 9T pro or the Oneplus 7 Pro...

If it is indeed Motorola, they'll have to do fast and long update support as this is required by GOS.

Looking forward to the official announcement. No matter what it will be, I'll wait a few months for long(ish) term reviews and price drops and see whether I get a Pixel or the new OEM phone. Choice is always good, may the better product receive our money.

maybe there is some mutual benefit for both parties.. I mean - graphene team would take care of the updates even for stock android..

You seem to misunderstand how this works. GrapheneOS can only update the OS. Firmware updates have to come from the OEM and component manufacturers.

The lack of updates from upstream vendors is one of the major reasons non-Pixel devices don't meet GrapheneOS requirements.
