How would a partnership between a company (lets say Motorola) work? Would there be a new phone handset just for graphene os? Or would graphene os work on the current Motorola handsets say Motorola edge 70?

DaveL I dont think there would be a separate device for graphene os.. imagine the additional hardware development, testing, and manufacturing cost...

Perhaps in the future if the GrapheneOS Motorola phone is a commercial success then Motorola might consider building a phone just for Graphene.

grayway2 I wonder how would you buy that.. Buy a special device with unlocked bootloader, or buy with graphene preinstalled? Or like pixel? I know it is too early to tell.

wizoatk that's right but it's obvious that if you choose the phone with GrapheneOS then it will be preinstalled and it's very helpful for people who don't want to bother with flashing process.

This would be another mainstream device where GrapheneOS could be installed on it. We're hopeful we'll at least get to that point. Whether or not the OEM wants to sell devices with GrapheneOS preinstalled and provide green boot state support, etc. is beyond the basics we want.

I have only been using graphene a week and bought a pixel 8 to try it out. I'm useless with technology but it's been more straight forward than I was expecting. I don't think much of the pixel 8 camera though, so not sure wether to get a pixel 10 pro (it would need to be on contract for 2 years) or start thinking about Motorola

userofgos it's a bad move to not sell the phone with GrapheneOS preinstalled. Not everyone is capable or want to do the installation.

grayway2 I don't disagree with you, however that is for the OEM to decide. Whether they do it on release day or a few days/weeks/months/years later is still unknown.

Probably initially market higher spec devices as grapheneos compatible but they must have higher ambitions for the future than selling a few thousand devices to existing GOS users wanting to upgrade. I'd be very interested in doing so if the razor fold is eligible

Unfortunately it's rare that GrapheneOS' real logo is ever used on publication sites, blogs, and YouTube videos. Most often the wrong logo is used

Looks like the template for the graphic had 2 circular cutouts for the logos and the GOS logo was poorly pasted in there.

If Motorola were the partner, then a solid no frills no nonsense bloat free business/enterprise edition would seem sensible.
Thousands of employees around the globe would bring GrapheneOS into the main stream and away from the view its a James Bond type OS for outliers, wannabe secret agents and cartel members.

Would the GOS devs ever allow an OEM to have something like "Moto Safe" - where the device is capable of being remotely locked at the firmware level?

Such a feature seems counter to GOS' oft-stated goals.
