Yeah, honestly I have been very disappointed with the quality of the USB-C port on my phone. I also bought a USB-to-headphone adapter, and it worked kind of well in the beginning, but I rarely get any data connection at all anymore, and if I do, I need to sit absolutely still, the slightest movement will cause it to drop again. At least charging still works, I just need to turn the phone a few times and hope it aligns so it connects. I never had any issues with regular headphone ports on any device ever. Now I just play audio with the speaker all the time.

n3t_admin While your response was not directed at me, I have gone through PLENTY of compressed air blowing the port clean, and over time it has gotten to the point of requiring CAREFUL handling to not disconnect the DAC plug. If I am simply listening to a podcast or something and it drops, it isn't a big issue (well, unless working on a car or motorcycle & have 7mil gloves on); when I am on a phone call, which usually is professional, my mike can drop out without my realizing it.

They REALLY need to reverse this stupidity!

Nah, it looks clean. Nothing there. It is probably the connectors themselves that aren't that great. USB-ports have always been a little bit unreliable, at least since they added the extra connectors for higher transfer speeds. USB-C is maybe just simply way worse than USB-A on top of that because of more connectors, and everything made much smaller. Add that maybe my device was produced on a Monday, and wear due to repeated usage of USB-connected headphones daily. It is still disappointing though that it started to fail.

I think it is Samsung because:

It was mentioned that the partner is one of the top 10 Android OEMs (most are chinese brands that I do not trust)
Samsung is capable of developing devices that meet the requirements

Anyway, even if the partnership is successful, the phone won't be as secure as Google Pixel devices. I will keep my Pixel 9 until I have good reasons to buy a new smartphone.

It was mentioned that the partner is one of the top 10 Android OEMs (most are chinese brands that I do not trust)
Samsung is capable of developing devices that meet the requirements

Samsung has been pretty much ruled out due to their inability to unlock bootloaders on new models. Besides, Samsung phones have been known to decrease security on custom OSes in the past. They're pretty much disqualified from the get-go. And I find that's a good thing.

n3t_admin I assumed disabled security features for custom OS are the reason no Samsung devices are supported currently. It wouldn't make sense to rule out cooperation with all OEMs that don't meet the requirenents. Future Samsung devices could be adjusted to allow GrapheneOS signing keys.

It has nothing to do with signing keys. Just unlocking the bootloader trips a fuse on Samsung devices, which can not be reversed and even limits functionality, if you stay on the stock OneUI.

This post is a few years old, but nothing changed.

I don't think compressed air will be helpful, once the lint is stuck in there tightly. I'd rather check with a toothpick carefully. Maybe check out some online tutorials beforehand. I had a headphone jack with the same symptoms once and it was a huge amount that wouldn't come out otherwise.

PinePhone has bottom of the barrel hardware with horrible security, performance and functionality. It's far from meeting our hardware security requirements grapheneos.org/faq#future-de…). The desktop software is also a huge regression for privacy and security (xcancel.com/GrapheneOS/status/1985…).

Doing a bit of investigating shows that OnePlus offers Co-Branding on their phones.
The website shows the Hasselblad, Cyberpunk, Genshin, McLaren, JCC+ (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac), COLETTE, and JBL OnePlus co-branded phones.

I have a feeling my next phone will be a GrapheneOS - OnePlus co-branded phone.

The reviews on OnePlus phones are generally quite good.
I would be interested to read others' thoughts on this.

OnePlus doesn't make any devices meeting either the update or security feature requirements for GrapheneOS.

OnePlus devices cripple functionality including security when using another OS, do not provide the required driver/firmware updates including long term support and do not provide the required hardware-based security features.

A GOS phone is not an issue of "branding", it's an issue of ongoing software support which from the point of the manufacturer is a cost that has no upsides (you've already sold the phone, why should you spend money on providing software updates for years and years?).

Tlhokaina I know many people who jumped ship from OnePlus. And I understand it well (I've had one too). They took a 180 on core principles and promises. It's not what it once was. The leadership changed at some point. So yeah, I hope it's not OnePlus.
