While these upcoming Snapdragon based Phones will be without a doubt far more powerful, provide better battery life and enjoy better cellular reception than Pixels, there are indeed concerns.
- Availability of original spare parts, general repairability and customer support in case of an RMA*
- Availability and Quality of compatible Screen/Camera Protectors, Phone Cases etc.
- Will these phones come with a flat screen and an iPhone-like design? It has advantages both in terms of durability and repairability. It also looks nice, while still feeling comfortable to hold IMO.
- Will the 2027 Snapdragon SoCs support the same Virtualization Features that the current Tensor G5 does? Those are needed for the Linux Terminal and planned GrapheneOS features like Virtual Machine/App/User Profile support
*Google seems to care a lot about making it as easy as possible to replace the battery of their devices, considering the Pixel Watch 4 is, unlike most smart watches, actually repairable. They might apply further improvements to their Pixel Phones as well.
I hope it will go well and we don't need to think about keeping Pixels as a backup solution.
