India - what UPI apps still work? Which bank apps still work?

Hello, I am from India and used to use GPay for UPI, and it stopped working. I tried switching to BHIM, SBI's UPI pay, Phone Pe etc... None of it managed to work even with compatibility mode and all the permissions for play store.

For now, I think Paytm still works. Do you guys know if any other apps that still work? What about banks? My HDFC Bank and Bank of Baroda works fully, but HDFC apparently is introducing a new app and I'm a bit afraid to update. Does it work? Are there other bank apps that doesn't work?

I use BHIM upi and Axis bank app. It's working flawlessly for me. And I use the sandboxed GPS with it.

I use ICICI and Kotak banking apps. It works fully without any issue. Regarding UPI, I switched to banking apps itself for qr scan and UPI id based payments. They get the job done though bit slow to load. I would prefer to use original banking apps than some third party apps like phone pe, gpay or paytm as you need to trust them with your datawhich is the whole point of using GOS. I tried using phone pe previously it didnt work for me.

Dock phone Pe doesn't no longer work I think..

Good to know both Axis ICICI and Kotak bank apps work with full UPI support. HDFC's old app works too, no idea about the new one

BHIM doesn't work there's a whole other thread for that here, but apparently @Earthyyy have it working...?
Paytm still works, GPay used to work but no longer (although Google might reenable it later)

Bro I didn't tinker that much with GPS. The only permission my gps has is notification and network. App battery usage- Restricted. It just worked out of the box. I installed it in my Main user profile.

Update - I got Phone Pe to work. FINALLY!!

My settings:
Sandboxed Gplay - Compatibility mode on, Unrestricted battery usage, permissions: Phone, SMS, Location, Nearby Devices(I think this was causing me issues until now)

Phone Pe: compatibility mode on

Extra note: I used mobile data to sign in, avoiding use of WiFi.

@GrapheneOS can we pin it or at least boost it a bit? There is not much info available about Indian app compatibility like european apps as privacy is not a thing here....

Having everything consolidated at one thread would be great for us minority 😅

Hello, is the new HDFC app working for anyone?

The old app was working, but it is forcing me to upgrade to the new one, and the new one shows the usual jailbreak/root notice.

Same with the Kotak new app. Any help would be appreciated!

My setup:
Pixel 9
Main Profile with Sandboxed GPS installed
Phone settings - bootloader locked, developer settings OFF

Google Play Services - Compatibility OFF, Permissions - Nearby and Network
Kotak/HDFC - Compatibility ON

What other things can I try and experiment?

jagorom515 Try enabling ALL permissions of Gplay services and play store... See if that fixes HDFC one. I still use the old app.

HDFC (both old and new) was working until a few months back. Now they are blocking GOS explicitly regardless of Play Protect APIs.
