Hi!
Brand new to GOS. I just got a Pixel Tablet yesterday and installed GOS. I have an app that I paid $20 for back in 2014, that is no longer available in the Play Store (so I can't just create a new user and install via play services). On every tablet I've had since then, I've used 'adb restore' to install the app. It's worked fine, and it's working on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ right now. (BTW, the dev didn't use the 'no-data' flag, every time I've backed up and restored I was able to bring the app data with it. The .ab file is 5GB.)
I tried to use 'adb restore' to restore it to the Owner user on GOS. Everything goes normal up until I select the 'Restore My data' button on the tablet. Then a few seconds later the cmd window on the computer goes back to the command prompt and the tablet stays at the restore screen and does nothing.
I just need a way to move a single app, with its data, from my Samsung to the Pixel. I plan on moving it from the Owner's user to a new user once I've got it moved (right now I haven't created any new users on the assumption that it would add complexity to the adb restore, but that's not working anyway).
- Would installing seedvault on the Samsun and doing a backup of apps and data to a USB work? Would seedvault allow me to restore only a single app to GOS?
- Is there a way to get GOS to allow 'adb restore'? Something that's worked on all of my android tablets since the Nexus Tablet 7?
I could sure use some help. Unfortunately this is kinda a deal breaker for me, and I really want to improve privacy/security on my phone/tablet.
Thank you!
