Offhand I don't recall any known issues with that particular setting, but no developer option is expected to work reliably on a production device. Google intends all of them to be used on devices that are briefly experimented on, without any private data, and then wiped. That option is a developer option because Google believes or suspects that it does something that is wrong for production devices. And it is possible that six months from now an update might change the behavior of that option without notice.
So if you decide to keep that enabled I'd say it would be good to be sure to turn it off (and reboot) before filing any issues or asking for advice on any behavioral issue.
