nandohyphen1 I mean, when I plug my secure GrapheneOS Phone into my windows laptop, is windows technically able to 'see' what's on my phone as it has access to my files? Just thought of this and how it could be a potential security risk. :)
Byteang3l nandohyphen1 you do have to manually change it from charging only to data transfer, but if you don't trust windows not to phone home about your phones files you can always send them to the PC via Bluetooth if you don't mind the wait depending on file size.
grayway2 nandohyphen1 Windows automatically collect the serial number of your pixel which is then linked to an unique user ID, like everything you connect on your machine. They say that it's anonymous but at the end it's not.
de0u nandohyphen1 A flash drive will be faster than Bluetooth for anything large. It is possible to buy a flash drive with a PIN pad that does hardware encryption, so you don't need to worry about files leaking via an unencrypted flash drive.
nandohyphen1 de0u thats pretty cool. I've never heard of those kinds of flash drives. I'll have to look into them for sure
x2e1 I wouldn't be surprised if windows did send your files but you can always verify it with wireshark or tcpdump. Never trust, always verify. Run the traffic inspection on router level.
nandohyphen1 grayway2 wow that's crazy! Definitely will make me think twice before plugging my phone into my PC now. I prefer to use wireless methods anyway for that reason.
