Strange experience pairing these devices. Usually there's a process required to enter pairing mode on the headphones, (eg, Tap and hold both earbuds' touchpads. The earbuds will enter pairing mode and you will hear a sound.)

However, this was not required for me, I simply turned bluetooth on, pair new device, had an earbud out of the case and viola. Makes me a bit concerned about the privacy of my earbuds, I see no reason why a neighbour couldn't pair to my headphones. Granted, I am glad that I didn't need to use the invasive samsung wearables app.

Any idea why the process was different here? How can I make my earbuds invisible to others?

I think that is a question you should ask the manufacturer of the earpiece.

When i pair my airpods they are not visible until I put these in pairing mode. And others can't listen to your music or calls. If they should pair with them, you hear them, not they you.
