  • Questions (new user in advance): eSim -> privileged management

In the FAQ is written, that "users can use any eSIMs installed previously on the device", but "in order to manage and add eSIMs, proprietary Google functionality is needed". Thus sandboxed Google Play is needed and privileged eSIM management has to "be enabled in Settings ➔ Network & Internet ➔ Privileged eSIM management".

My question are,

(1) if, after adding and management of an eSIM is done, one can disable Privileged eSIM management again and use this eSIM furthermore?

(2) Would it be sufficient for this purpose to install sandboxed Google Play Services in a special environment, like f. e. the "Shelter"-app?

(3) In case of (1) is true and privileged eSIM management can be disabled after adding and managing an eSIM and this eSIM could be used furthermore, without this option enabled, would it also be possible to deinstall sandboxed googles play and use the eSIM furthermore?

Thank you in advance for reading my stupid questions and giving sufficient answer.

Will only answer (1), because I tested this personally: Yes, you can disable Privileged eSIM Management and keep it disabled. It only needs to be enabled when activating/deactivating or provisioning new e-SIMs.

And for 2) You need to install Sandboxed Google Play and enable Privileged eSIM Management on the Owner/main profile. It won't work elsewhere.

James The eSIM can only be installed from the owner profile. Once the eSIM is installed it can be used to access mobile data/make phone calls/send SMS from any user profile that you wish.

I recently switched to Google Fi and can confirm that (at least for me) the Google Fi app is required/mandatory or else things will not work properly after you uninstall it and you'll start receiving "MMS delivery failure"-related messages.
