userofgos DeletedUser323 agreed, especially apps that still haven't adopted the Material 3 UX design such as the AOSP apps.
DeletedUser323 userofgos Markor and Syncthing-Android come to mind here. Amazingly performant and featureful apps, but they remind you of 2014 Android. Generally on iOS, whatever app you install looks like it belongs on your system.
GrouchyGrape gaffka I suspect that most, myself included, don't need anything in their personal phone calls other than the very basics. Therefore, it's not much of a priority compared to other security features, Android 16 porting, etc.
DeletedUser323 DeletedUser313 The AOSP apps we have on Graphene are forks of the originals. You can take a look at the commit histories to see what has been changed.
DeletedUser323 GrouchyGrape Android definitely allows you to do much cooler things with your apps. Apps like syncthing could never work on iOS due to arbitrary limitations. Even the file manager on iOS is hardly useful. On Android I can transfer thousands of pictures in minutes, while on iOS it will take a few hours (whether you have a mac or icloud or not).
DeletedUser313 DeletedUser323 Well the only thing good on iOS is privacy and it still has controversies like the Siri spying incident. iPhones are practically toys compared to Android in terms of functionality
DeletedUser313 NetRunner88 iCloud Advanced Data Protection and it went to court to prevent a backdoor from being installed. https://apnews.com/article/apple-iphone-britain-privacy-cybersecurity-encryption-5bc43477bee8cf32cbd81cd88a9463bd It also has the Secure Enclave which is apparently equal to Titan. iMessage is built in, iirc RCS is still quite unstable. Apple was caught recording Siri conversations though so I don't trust it that much.
iudnu Call Recording is an essential feature for me, and though GrapheneOS supports it, it seems like it's only from within the GOS dialer. I'd like a more feature rich dialer app, but not at the cost of losing my recording ability!
andrej567 I'd be perfectly fine with the default phone app if it would be able to use specific sim card per contact. I am using some third party app now, paid, it used to work, recently it forgets the settings. I am not sure whether it is related to contact syncing and the info is wiped or what.. annoying but it is as it is.
mar2112 +1 for carrying a work phone. I found that it's really not that big of a deal to carry two phones during work hours. Except when on travel, I do not use my work phone after hours. My employer has an emergency contact if they need me after hours, otherwise that is my time and not work time so my work phone is powered off.
mar2112 DeletedUser313 Sorry for the delayed response. My employer provided the phone. In fact work email is not accessible from my personal phone. Yes, I carry a wallet which only has my drivers license and one credit card.
Drum1973 gaffka Let me add some more "feature requests" for dialer app which I noticed that are missing when I switched from Samsung to Graphene OS. When searching for contact with dialer (numbers), default number is some arbitrary number. It doesn't use marked "default" number or mobile phone number. If I remember correctly, on Samsung, when you click on contact, it's calling default number and if there isn't default, it's calling mobile (if available). When having SIM and e-sim in phone, you cannot pick from which to make a call. You need to go to setting and change default if you want to call from another sim. There is no bluetooth on/off in call. Was nice when I forget to turn on BT when I'm in car, I could just turn in on when in call and it connects to car. When in call, I get no notification that someone else is calling me. When phone is unlocked and I'm using any app, if I receive call there is popup on top. That's great, but if I don't want to answer call right now, I cannot just remove that popup. On Samsung you could just push it aside and it goes to notifications without rejecting call, ringing is silenced. Rescent calls list is hard to read when you have a lot of calls. Missed calls are hard to see. I know it's a few months old thread, but lets keep it for future reference is GOS team decides to upgrade app at any time. :)
Drum1973 Drum1973 More items that got on my mind: There is no "speed dial". If you don't know what it is, you just hole one number, for example 2, and set it to your desired contact number. Next time you hold it, it speed dials that number.
