UBS Access App is no longer working

Yesterday I had the same problem as @graphene1728372: after an update the UBS Access app closed with a redirection to a webpage informing about the prohibition of rooting or using a custom ROM. I was able to fix it by uninstalling the update for GmsCompatConfig.

Today I received yet another system update and after installing it, the UBS Access app is failing again.

Any advice ?

Everything seems to work fine for me: I open the banking app, then UBS Access -> fingerprint -> I am able to login.

You mentioned above that GmsCompatLib could be the cause of your issue, which version are you using?

For comparison, I have:

GOS: 2025102601 (The update came just in 1 or 2 hours ago)
GmsCompatLib: 101
GmsCompatConfig: 163

UBS Access: version 7.9.1.2381

I believe I had the same setup as you before the update.
Also I think I need to maybe role back GmsCompatLib 101 to 100. But I don't know how. I don't see a way to do it in Settings > Apps > GmsCompatLib. There is no 3-dot-menu showing or anything similar.

@Franco: thanks for your reply. Also: I believe you mixed up GmsCompatLib and GmsCompatConfig in your version listing.

I can confirm an issue with UBS access.
Version 7.9.1.2381

The app runs fine for about ten seconds. Then you get a redirect to a website asking to uninstall your custom ROM or Magisk.

But there is time enough to perform the login so it is still usable. I do not use the banking app however.

Also got the error and redirect, impossible to log in fast enough.

Can confirm the same thing, including the above error code. I tried both the Play Store and Aurora. Neither worked.
As I need to make an urgent payment, I now need to go to the bank. In Person. Like in the stone age. Wtf.

What's the consensus, is this a temporary bug, or UBS cracking down on rooted phones?

GoS Team mentioned that that thr issue doesn't seem related to the update but rather an existing issue.

Not a very good sign because i doubt that the Dev Team will check if it impacts only GoS. Let's see.

southrockstar Coming back here to say that it's happening again also to me. This morning after the update I got the same error again. I tried to roll back again but seems there is no chance anymore. How is that possible? Yesterday I was able to rollback GsmCompatLib and the UBS app started to work again, today not possible anymore.
Anyone having any clue? Can anybody check if you have the chance to rollback GsmCompatLib or this setting is disappeared to you too?

I indeed can't downgrade GmsCompatLib, like others in this thread. Never tried before now, though.

I just intalled the latest Alpha release of GOS https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/27702-grapheneos-version-2025102800-released and seems the problem is disappeared luckily. I will come back if it starts popping out again, but so far everything is fine

southrockstar I can confirm the problem is gone with the alpha release, at least on my machine. I was able to go back to the stable channel after the update.

BTW could you tell me: If I switch to the Alpha channel can I easily switch back to Stable afterwards or does switching back involve anything unexpected ?

random4893 Not really. You will just be temporarily ahead of stable until this update (or a subsequent one) reaches stable itself.

I switched to the Alpha release channel and it immediately installed an OS update: 2025102801

I too can confirm that the UBS key app is working again normally.

I set the release channel back to Stable. I expected it to downgrade the OS somehow but nothing happened. I guess it's because Android cannot be downgraded but only upgraded. My understanding is now that with the current release channel setting set to Stable, the next stable update will be installed on the phone.
