nullrunde grapheneOS is open source, nobody needs employment with grapheneOS to have access to it's code.

No they won't. As a previous contractor working with them, however "bad" you think this company is,
they are just selling a product that is in high demand. Nothing personal, just business. You can't really
corrupt an open-source project the size of GrapheneOS, there are many eyes watching every commit.

GrapheneOS One of our two senior developers has been forcibly detained and conscripted to participate in a war.

To be honest, I find this quite worrying – both for the developer involved (I wish them all the best) and for the project.

I hope you find a competent replacement quickly. And perhaps also an OEM who is willing to give you early access to the Android 16 sources.

Titan_M2 that's what I thought too. Probably from Ukraine. Ukrainians and Russians have both very talented people in computer science field.

Any war is terrible and shouldn't take place in this day and age. Innocent people who didn't get to choose where they get born and live get caught up in in a powerful meat grinder fuelled by politicians. As soon as we start looking past nationality, race, material possessions and influential power we will realize how meaningless all military conflicts are and how much money gets poured down the drain instead of bettering of humans and environment they rely upon.

Good luck to those who choose to live in peace yet arms were forced into their hand to fight for someone elses gain.

What you describe is nonsensical. A fantasy world that will never exist. By your logic, we shouldn't need jails or police "in this day and age", either. However, all of these are necessary institutions because we don't live in perfect harmony, sans evil-doers and free of conflict. We will never "look past nationality" because many of us are in stark disagreement. A one-world government would be impossibly dangerous.

Also, "just being born and live in" is ridiculously unfair here if we are indeed talking about UA. They are being invaded. Conscripts aren't "doing the bidding of politicians" by dying in a "meat grinder", in that case. They are being attacked, man.

Just because harmony isn't attainable, doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for it. But we should also be realistic. My thoughts are with this developer, regardless of what country he was born or lives in.

BuffaloStance neither idealistic nor nonsensical. You forget to see that despite a few existing armed conflicts, most of the countries enjoy lasting peace. Everyone has a right to defend themselves, but that right should be voluntary, not enforced unless you face total annihilation. Drafting is a discrimination based on age and gender but I am not here to discuss moral or ethical aspects of warfare just show respect to those who are likely forced to participate in something against their will.

All the best to our poor devs which seemingly have to risk their lives when the people in power are lacking in peace negotiations or even the willing to it.
It shows how important the internet is and trustworthy hardware to go into it.
We should do anything to protect that. I hope I can do my small part in compensating this and hope creators like Techlore & Co. could bring this info out.
Hopefully Alpha or any manufacturer can help lighten the barriers for this solely security project.

I hope people can post in this thread based on the expectation that the developer in question may read these comments in a week or a month or a year, also perhaps the developer's family.

Here is Wikipedia's "List of ongoing armed conflicts". This forum arguably isn't the place to discuss or debate any of them, but many of us may have some way outside of this forum to contribute to some victims.

@TGOS Henry Fisher (Techlore) was responsible for beginning most of the harassment directed towards our team by pushing fabricated stories and spin about them along with encouraging his community to raid our chat rooms and harass us. This escalated to the point his community engaged in multiple severe swatting attacks aimed at killing our other senior developer. He's the last person we want involved. The harassment he started has morphed into Kiwi Farms harassment after a Kiwi Farms user with a large audience made a video with further fabrications and bullying directed towards the same senior GrapheneOS developer. The video catered to the Kiwi Farms audience and seeing as he directly participates on the site with an account in his real name, it quickly got them involved which is still ongoing. That serves as a hub to coordinate harassment towards one of our developers and the rest of our team. They were already putting our team at risk of physical harm for years and the swatting attacks easily could have resulted in death or severe injury. Techlore is one of the main people responsible for that and has not taken down his harassment material and fabrications about us to this day. Following the swatting attacks, he overhauled it and continued to promote it.

GrapheneOS It seems to me, with all that has already happened, attacks on the project and individual developers of the project, that developers should remain anonymous..... Their names and locations should not be known.

GrapheneOS I watched the video on strcat he made. I'm surprised people believed anything from it when it takes only a few seconds of critical thinking to realize a lot of it is BS....

At one point they literally said it was ridiculous to be frustrated at his bank being locked and domain phishing attempts on grapheneOS

This isn't really responsible to implement, and it would make bank transfers, having a nonprofit status, and working with companies impossible.

locked couple months ago I thought that the devs should stay as anonymous as possible for safety reasons but now I think differently.

They are attacked because they criticize other insecure project like /e/os. Very few people are capable to accept constructive criticism.

The founder of GrapheneOS isn't the most tender person when he has something to say but at least he's honest. I see a lot of people who try to make him look as sick with serious mental issues.

Harassment and swatting attacks are extreme form of violence. Only a twisted mind will participate in that kind of attacks. It's also reprehensible and punishable by law.

So no, they don't have to hide. They are not doing illegal stuffs and shame is on the other side.
