RWT No, when you tap USB-C it it has several modes, What mode is used? "Charging only"? "Charging only when locked"? If it is set to "charging only" data transfer through USB is completely disabled so your phone won't connect with anything using USB.

I have almost the exact same issue... But mine didn't start suddenly - I have never been able to get Android Auto to work. I gave up on it ages ago and kept using my stand alone GPS unit - but that has just died so I'm back here trying again.

I have a Pixel 9 currently running GrapheneOS 16.
USB-C is set to "On" Does not add any restrictions
USB Controlled by "This Device"
Use USB for "File Transfer"

I have tested this in two different cars - both (in their own way) report that there is no USB connection from the phone. But at the same time, the phone reports that Android Auto is connected to the car.

While "connected" I tried to change the setting to USB Controlled by "Connected Device" - but the setting change failed and the phone reverted to This Device.

In both vehicles, a standard Android phone connected with the same cable worked perfectly.

Clearly there is a USB connection issue somewhere - what am I missing?

Comments in this thread make it clear that other folk have Android Auto working in a User profile.

I checked, and was able to get it to connect with my car in the Main Owner profile (which is not what I want to do) - but my Organic Maps instance would not appear even then. OM was installed from Aurora so I understand that is also an issue - but the Google Play Store won't work either. I am trusting the Play Store app in the standard install is actually the sandboxed version (I never installed anything from Google), but as soon as I open it, all I get is a "Something went wrong" error suggesting I have no internet connection (I am connected and everything else is working fine).

I really want to use this in a User profile not the main one - but can't install a "visible" version of Organic Maps anyway! It seems every path to the fairly standard objective is blocked by one thing or another...

Any clues very welcome.

Do not try to change USB settings except "Usb ON" or "Charging only when locked" which is located in Settings > Security > Epxloit protection.

In Settings > Apps > Sandboxed Google play > Android auto > allow for wired connection, and that's it.

Ensure the app you want to use has Android auto support.

I had an issue with last update i had to uninstall/reinstall android auto via Graphene App Store and allow again wired connection in Android auto.

Be careful, sometimes cars headunit are total shit and you need to allow wireless Android auto too to connect by wire which makes absolutely no sense

Thanks NetRunner - almost everything you have said is what I am already doing. Except I only had wired permissions set, not wireless as well. My car doesn't support wireless AA anyway - I did try it, but it made no difference at all to anything.

So I can't connect AA from a User profile, and I can't download anything from the Play Store.

I can't even buy a new GSP locally as they only stock massive "Truck" models now days. My only choice seems to be to go and buy a cheap GPS on AliExpress and pray it has some relevant map support.

Yeah, this is what I had to do way back. In my case though it uses Bluetooth for wireless audio forwarding for calls. Which I find annoying, why can't it just send that through USB lol.
