just installed grapheneOS on the pixel 6 and am having trouble adding network locations to the files browser. is that support built into the file system or do i need to add a different program in order to browse network storage?
Browsing files on Network Locations in GrapheneOS
You would need to install a third party file manager. Material Files is a popular choice.
mythodical appreciate it. ill poke around for the apk
MethRaptor You probably found it on Github already, but here it is just in case.
mythodical I just tried out Material Files from f-droid. I can't connect to my Fritz!Nas in my home network neither per smb nor per ftp. Other clients can at least manage ftp. E.g. ghost commander.
dirksche Sorry to hear that, it works as expected on my network. All that I can suggest is to verify that you granted network permissions to the app, and that your credentials are correct. Material Files' SMB support is one of the reasons it's a popular FOSS choice.
mythodical The problem with smb seems to be the smbv1 on my old Fritz!Box. But I don't know why ftp is not working properly. It opens the first overview on my NAS, but then it's a kind of loop. I open a directory an get the same overview as before but its shown as if I was in the folder. Sorry, it's hard to describe. Anyways I can't open any file.
It's great, that it works for you.
dirksche According to their website, more recent versions of Fritz!OS now support SMB version 2 and 3. I don't know whether upgrading the OS is an option with your model but it would be worthwhile if so, as v2 would be a significant step up in security from v1 (whose use is officially discouraged now). Failing that, you might find more support for the FTP issues elsewhere; it sounds like this might be a legacy device and far less common in North America.
mythodical My FritzBox 7360 stopped with Version 6.87. EOS
