I don't see an update on the Mastodon page
Could someone please further explain the following change: "add support for using passkeys without Play services via the Android 15 credential manager" - isn't this a major change? How this can be activated and used? Shouldn't Vanadium show up and be selected under "passwords, passkeys & accounts" > "preferred service"? Thank you very much.
AgentM I believe it's related to this: https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2024/10/chrome-3p-autofill-services.html?m=1
It has been reported that passkeys with Proton Pass now work in Vanadium without Play services – although I haven't personally tested this. My guess is that it might work with Bitwarden as well. Before this update, you could use Bitwarden and Proton Pass with passkey autofill in Vanadium even if Play services and Play Store were disabled. This update seems to remove that dependency altogether.
Might be a relevant commit: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/Vanadium/commit/36b6aaf3db0c178de1259e6679e7c6864f5591d9#diff-1019a88a8b06815559886283494b92a68cfd6f1cc5109584c1fb7933fe50a5ba
The change does not affect physical security keys.
