Which network location settings are best from a privacy perspective?

Are there any benifits of WiFi location over GPS other than it works better indoors?

If we use WiFi location what information is sent to GOS or Apples servers?

angela

angela does this work when someone isn't using a cellular network or WiFi?

It would be nice if one day these requests can be routed through VPN and then Tor (Port 9050) for those of us who don't trust anyone ever.

What do you think is routing / transporting your packets in this combination? I am really not sure if you're trolling here, or you really have no clue how any of this works but watched one too many doomsday yt vids.

Xtreix before, 5G coverage was much less deployed than 4G coverage, 5G coverage is now expanding

Yes, that is the way of the universe... newer things replace older things. Not sure what point you're trying to make here.

All I was saying there is that if 5G did have significant security benefits over 4G/LTE, GrapheneOS would likely have made 5G-only a higher priority, rather than waiting for it to be more widely available.

Since GrapheneOS did not do that, we can infer that the project does not view 5G as a significant improvement in terms of security.

Seems to me like we are in agreement.

0xsigsev he wants to loop himself into the 3rd Dimension ???

Sorry but VPN and Tor is not a good idea in case you don't know exactly what you do

Murcielago wait what, you can stop anyone calling you whos not in your contacts? how does one do this?

Phone app > Settings > Blocked numbers

Are update rollouts staged or does it take a few hours after a post is made for a new version until it gets pushed to all GOS devices? Because my device doesn't find the newest update. It says that I already have the newest stable release installed.

riOrthra First they roll out alpha, then beta, last the stable version.I have it already, as I am on the alpha release channel. Just be patient.

Does blocking callers not in contacts also help with reducing attack surface?

Since when can you block callers that aren't in the contacts?
Where is something in the release Notes

Titan_M2 No, but it will help you with spam calls. Assuming of course you can allow yourself to block any caller outside of your contacts list.

BaronAfanas Thanks! I thought an announcement meant stable but now I know that they go through testing (alpha, beta) first before they are pushed into stable channel.

About Network Location. Organic Maps don't see me indoors, other maps and iPhone can see me in a couple of seconds as expected. Is it normal?

Probably a dumb question, but I will need to have WiFi on for the new location thing to work right? Even when at a later date I can download the database on my device. Because I always turn WiFi off when on the go.

When network location is enabled, is GPS turned off? If not automatically, is it possible to manually disable it to save battery?

GrapheneOS Sure. Reboot didn't help. I'm using Organic Maps web release from GitHub with all permissions given.

It doesn't work for me in Vanadium too.

What quality of life feature! Wasn't able to use my digital id app on my tablet previously since it requires location to activate. Turned on Network location with GOS proxy and it worked like a charm!
