Informations on the call screen

Hello,
Is it possible to add more information on the call screen?
I mean the screen that is visible when someone calls me and during the call. I only see the name and surname there, and I would also like to see the company and maybe other information. Can I find this somewhere in the settings? Or where can I report adding such a function??

tuskun you can add more info to saved contacts, otherwise there's no such option. Where would you fetch such info from?

DeletedUser237 I know that I can add more information to saved contacts. The thing is that I have more information added to my contacts and I have many contacts in my phone. When someone calls me, I don't remember what company the person is from, because the phone doesn't display the company name, only the first and last name. I would like to add the display of other data on the call and phone conversation screen.

No, because this is not the place for this information. There is a field for this in contacts to enter the company name.

Besides, I would now have to change dozens of contacts on the phone.

I would also like to display other data, e.g. job title. I thought that in GrapheneOS I would be able to select the data that is shown there, but I guess it is not possible.

I recently had a Samsung and the company name was displayed there under the name. So it can definitely be done.

tuskun I can imagine it might take a bunch of code to display multiple fields, and then to let users pick which ones to display, and then to somehow scroll the information...

Overall it might make more sense for the dialer to provide a way to ask Contacts to pop up a window displaying the contact, instead of adding lots of code to the dialer. There may well already be an intent for that.

I used to be a programmer and it seems to me that you don't need that much code to show other data. The name and surname are already loaded, you just need to load other data along with the name and surname.

But enabling the selection of fields is a different matter, there will definitely be some code there. You have to add the entire functionality. But it would be useful.

Showing the entire contact is also a solution.

For me, any solution is good, because now I don't know who's calling me and what we're going to talk about. I have 500 clients from different companies on my phone. When I see what company they're calling from, I know what the conversation will be about. And now I have to ask what company the customer is calling from, it's a bit rude.

Please note that non-security/privacy enhancement requests are not likely to be acted on quickly by the development team (so a community code contribution may be necessary). Also, the dialer is critical code, and may be changing substantially soon.

Overall, if popping up external code is possible I suspect it would be a better approach than adding display options to the dialer code.

To me the GOS contact and dialer apps are broken. I use the Fossify Dialer instead.

The problem seems to be that GOS is strictly based on the AOSP dialer/contacts and this is not under serious development. You should probably file your feature request in AOSP so if implemented it would automatically pop up in GOS dialer.

But the better way would be to switch contacts/dialer to Fossify variants for the entire GOS project.

Have a look in Fossify dialer, chances are high the feature is already implemented there. If not, file a request and you have a fair chance they will implement it within a useful time frame.

I have absolutely no idea what these applications are (GOS Contact, Dialer, Fossify Dialer), and how to switch to them. I have to investigate the topic. As I wrote, I'm new.
