apps compatibility/alternatives

Hello Grapheneos community,

I want to know if the below apps work(on grapheneos) & if they require google play services:

Moovit
Waze
Whatsapp
"Pepper - Mobile Banking" (a banking app, I've checked if it's listed here and it's not: https://privsec.dev/posts/android/banking-applications-compatibility-with-grapheneos/ )
Moreover, what foss alternatives are there?
I thought of using google maps within the browser for public transport-navigation purposes instead of moovit.

Nightstyle I just tried myself

Moovit: works without Google Play installed
Waze: isn't supported where I live, but the app launches and seems to work without Google Play. I know it works in profiles with Google Play installed.
WhatsApp: Many people here on the forum use WhatsApp with and without Google Play installed, but for notifications to be delivered quickly, you may need Google Play?
Pepper - Mobile Banking: I couldn't find this app, so I'm assuming it's only available to people who've set their region to certain places.
