I don't want a Google account, but before I somewhat ironically buy a Pixel, I want to make sure I do not need an account?

Thanks.

slannmage To enable OEM unlocking, you have to boot into the stock OS, but in the setup wizard you have a button to skip signing in with / creating a Google account. Don't need it to enable OEM unlocking.

Some apps require Google Play, and some of them require that Play is signed in to a Google account. But many apps do not.

I bought a Fold cause it was £550 for a 512GB version, so that cheap for a folding phone that is great in one was too good to miss and it was brand new. Just need the time to set it up now as it seems like it'll take me a few hours to work it out.

I'm not bothered about apps, I stopped using them years ago when they all decided to become freemium. The only thing that worries me is banking, but I'm sure there must be alternatives to Google right? I do most of my stuff with cash anyways as banks love to steal your money.

slannmage this price is too good to be true. You haven't mentioned the source. Are you sure you don't have a stolen device? Many bank apps will work without Google Play, many won't, you'll just have to try and see. I bank through my browser, logging in is a bit inconvenient but I can do all I need within that environment.
