I have a Pixel 7 Pro that I need to reinstall Google on (so that I can send the phone back to Google, as I have upgraded to a Pixel 9), & I want to be sure I'm doing this correctly. Would this be the best way to proceed?

  • Follow the instructions for installing GrapheneOS up thru the "unlocking the bootloader" step

  • Go the the bottom of the page and click on, "remove non-stock key"

  • Re-lock the bootloader (I am aware that during the process, the Google tool will have me unlock the bootloader again)

  • Unplug the phone

  • Follow Google's instructions on using the Android Flash Tool to reinstall Google

Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, however I am still new to this. The instructions on installing GrapheneOS are excellent, and by following them exactly I was able to get it installed. However, in reversing the process, I am not confident I'm doing everything accurately. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I think click remove key from graphene installation page and then visit flash.android.com and go back to public release.

Its quite straightforward.

Yeah you got that right. Enable OEM unlocking in the developer settings, enter fastboot, unlock bootloader, remove the key (you also need to be in fastboot for that), follow through with Google's installer. No point in locking the bootloader while you get things ready, as you said you'd need to then unlock it again. It's not like you're using the device for anything during that time.
