  • Sudden app crashes with Pixel 3 XL w/ 2022111000

badmonkey Uninstall and reinstall Play services and the Play Store. It sounds like you updated them to an unsupported version. Don't remove GSF or you'll need to reinstall all apps depending on GSF.

Thanks. I have noticed in the last few hours that the phone was very hot and hammering battery; Google Services appears to be the culprit from a look at Battery usage in settings.

A year or so ago when I set the phone up I did the manual install of Graphene's custom GS apps, but now I understand they're taken care of by a combination of the Graphene Apps manager plus some integration in the OS. I haven't updated them manually, I just let them take care of themselves and I understood that Apps did one bit while Play did the others. What's the best way to reset them, via the Apps manager?

Also in the Apps manager I see all three as attributed to "Google (MIrror)", is this normal?

Ok I reinstalled the Play & Play Services apps as above, and thank you vm this appears to have fixed the basic issue. All apps opening again.

One remaining issue now is Play Store is showing me as logged in ok but I get a "something went wrong" error when trying to look at manage my apps, and no installed apps appear, much less updates. I have given it "allow install unknown apps" permission. Something I'm missing?

Thank you for writing this, and making it very easy for me to fix my problem!

Follow up: Well, this is still a bit worky but better than it was. I can't manage/update apps via the PlayStore, and certain apps are still hit or miss such as banking apps. But they are not outright crashing now.

3rd generation Pixels don't have the current sandboxed Google Play compatibility layer so their app compatibility won't be as broad. They're not really supported anymore. Installing apps from the Play Store should work fine. Did you downgrade both Play services and Play Store to the supported versions in our app repository?

strcat Pixel 3a here. Same app crashing-after-1-sec problem. I uninstalled Play services and Play Store. But when I try to install Play Services, I get error message Installation Failed - The app is corrupt. Play Store installation was smooth though, but I got the latest version (83111410), that means I should look elsewhere to find a supported version to install?

Pixel 3a, 2022111100, solved. The same problem with non-GrapheneOs apps crashing. I've uninstalled Google Play Store and G.P. Services (left GSF) via GrapheneOs Apps, then reinstalled the same way (GPS version 222413044) everything works since then.

KeenGrass It sounds like you may have a newer version of these apps than the ones you're trying to install in another profile. Android is preventing you from installing an older version than the one currently installed.

You'd need to remove these apps across all profiles before re-installing them.

I also have experienced battery issues on the Pixel 3 since updating to 2022111100, allowed Play Services to update itself this morning and found that play-services-using apps were crashing after a second as others have reported. Uninstalled and reinstalled Play Services and Play Store and everything was working again. All sorted within 10 minutes, thanks @strcat and everyone else for the quick fix!
