Pixel 6 Pro here. Been running GOS just fine for months.
Today, I tried sending a text to someone using QKSMS that was longer than normal. It failed to go through. I couldn't figure out why. I tried a similar message to someone else, and the same issue.
I shortened the message considerably, <160 characters, and both sent just fine.
I'm on Verizon in the US.
Any known issue with the QKSMS app, or in GOS in general?

Might be a limitation to AOSP messaging. QKSMS does have a toggle in settings to send long texts / SMS that do not send as MMS instead

I'm not aware of any specific issues with QKSMS, but the app hasn't been updated in nearly two years and there are currently 436 outstanding issues logged at its Github repo. It's safe to say the project is now inactive.

Simple SMS Messenger has been good for me, but I have pretty minimal SMS needs.

Giving Simple SMS a go - also have basic SMS needs so will see if any issues come up

Since Simple SMS has been brought up, is anyone having issues with it on GOS?

I'm having the exact same issues as other GOS users here:

    1. The search function would not return accurate results or sometimes any results at all This is even though there were old messages with with that text that I could find manually.
    2. I need to manually scroll through older texts for them to "load" into the system. Plus not all older texts will show as the app loads a few months and then just stops.

I've tried other SMS apps (QKSMS, Textra) and there are no such issues.

grapheine I have some issues with QKSMS as well on Verizon. But what happens to me is the message does not get sent but if resend it, it goes through. It happens (length doesn't seem to be a factor) rarely and the app.spits out an error when it occurs so it's not to troublesome right now. Otherwise I do like the app.

Thanks for the insight and replies. I'll continue to monitor it. I mainly use QKSMS because of the ability to customize the color schemes.

grapheine Simple SMS features a highly configurable colour scheme as well, but only for the app as a whole (not the individual chat threads).

Does simple sms let you add a signature yet?
