Since a very long time I did not recognise so many bugs like there are actually on my P7a.
Hope it gets better quickly and ...1212... fixes some of them.

Settings: add back Unrestricted battery usage option to App battery usage screen to undo the usability regression introduced by Android 14 QPR2 where Optimized vs. Unrestricted was hidden away in an inner mode accessed by pressing the text next to an allow background toggle for controlling the Restricted mode (they likely did this to discourage users enabling Unrestricted, but GrapheneOS users need this much more than stock OS users especially if they don't use sandboxed Google Play and the new UI is very confusing/misleading instead of simply giving users a direct choice between the 3 modes)

Does anyone know if this would result in apps more aggressively 'suspending' when the screen is off? I've experience Google Messages not giving notifications until I re-launch the app for example.

No. This is just a UI change to how the settings are organized.

However, you might want to check that Play Services has unrestricted background usage.

Yes, this sounds like the Restricted mode was active and too aggressive. The Threema app warned me about this, but I wasn't able to find the hidden menu to switch to the Unrestricted mode. Now the warning in the Theema app is gone and I delayed notifications are no longer a problem! :-)

No is the wrong answer in this case. This user didn't know about the secret menu and experienced problems (as mentioned) because of the active Restricted mode! ;-)

naibed Just want to update that whatever issue I was experiencing has been resolved and I no longer need to unlock Google Messages to send/receive texts through my browser.

Quick question to all running this update, tried it on my Pixel 7a and the battery seemed way worse than stock. Running Google Play Services unrestricted with just a few settings enabled, namely contacts for contact sync. All apps had background data disabled and background battery usage was disabled too.

After updating my google pixel 6 on Total Wireless (a verizon mvno) to this version, my mobile data stopped working, which also happened to me when I updated to version 2024120900 (https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/18042-grapheneos-version-2024120900-released). After days of back and forth and about 3 hours on the phone, their support was eventually able to "manually re-provision my mobile network" again and get mobile data working again. Hopefully it doesn't happen a third time when the next version comes out.

xdg-7 Unfortunately, my mobile data has stopped working again, despite there being no new build. Not sure what would cause it to just stop working like this while the phone was plugged in and unattended overnight.

xdg-7 It is possible something changed on the carrier end.

@xdg-7 Sadly some US carriers require phones to include large highly privileged apps. We dont include them as we consider them problematic. Verizons app is huge. Verizon MVNOs tend to rely on this app to configure the device properly. This could be the cause of your issues

I would like to thank you for the continued updates and improvements. I also wanted to ask if there’s any news on when the 2FA feature might be released, allowing us to finally use a Diceware passphrase for BFU protection.

It would be great to have the convenience of quickly unlocking in AFU mode using a PIN + fingerprint.

I recall reading that this was planned for Android 15, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like we’ll get it as a Christmas gift. That said, I believe many users are eagerly waiting for this functionality.

I believe the maybe-soon biometric 2FA feature allows pairing a fingerprint with a PIN when the device is AFU. I am unaware of official or semi-official plans involving changes to BFU unlock. That said, I do not speak for the GrapheneOS project.
