Hi!

I was wondering if there's a way to speed up app updates, especially via Google Play (running in a work profile).

Apps generally take longer to update than other phones/ROMs I've used, but there are certain apps that take a VERY long time, e.g. Revolut (banking app) is currently updating and has so far taken 45 mins and counting.

It's not the end of the world that updating can take hour(s), but during the installs I obviously can't use the apps, which is a pain with Revolut, as I use it for my daily spending/banking.

It's at the stage where I purposely delay large batches of updates because I don't want to lose access to those apps, sacrifice the higher battery drain, and keeping the work profile unlocked for so long (I keep crappy apps in there locked away).

Is there any way to alleviate this maybe?

Thanks.

upstage4186 From my experience, non-foss apps tend to be very bloaty and unnecessarily large files. If you're using a VPN on top of that, this can further exacerbate slow downloads.

Ultimately, you should try configuring battery settings, data usage settings, doing automatic updates, trying the fastest server possible (if on a VPN), deleting unnecessary apps/tasks that are hogging resources, etc...

If still unsatisfied, I recommend trying to use the bank from the browser if possible.

Ammako No, not in this regard. You are still downloading data from an external source.

Just an fyi. Its not specific to graphene. I just had a samsung tablet update. Thedownload took15 sec but the install & optimization took 27mins.

You are talking about a system update to a non-Pixel device? If so, that's quite off the topic.

I am simply pointing out that the long optimazation times is nothing specific to just graphene os on the pixel. The same thing happens on my very fast powerful tablets and no where near the same security. I think its quite relavent to the issue as it indicates its not unique or unusual. But thank you for your concern.

Nobody The OP is talking about app updates through Google Play – not app optimizations after an OS update – taking an unusually long time. For Revolut to need 45 minutes to update is very unusual. Are you saying you are observing the same app update behaviour on your powerful tablets?
