A massive thanks to the GrapheneOS team
I took the consequences of 1. Revolut denying me access and 2. my phone being an obsolete Pixel 4a without this update. The reason I have kept the 4a so long is because of the headphone jack, but obviously the day of loosing that has been on the horizon for some time.
So I got a Pixel 8a, got it set up and Revolut is now working as a “charm”. I’m deeply dependent on this account for autopaying several services, so the exclusion by Revolut I guess is just a clear sign that I can’t trust Revolut for access to my money.
I do understand the anticompetitive aspect of the GOS block, but in my opinion, this is something you cannot do. Blocking peoples access to their money.
Unfortunately this is actually one of the reasons I have to use Revolut. I’m a Danish citizen and I have several Danish bank accounts with visa cards attatched. Unfortunately none of them work online, due to the fact, that Denmark has already implemented digital id’s and since I under no circumstances want such an id on my phone or any where else, the Danish ministry of Finance through the company Nets, which handles all online card verifications, have blocked my online payment access for all cards, because you know if you do not want our id, obviously there is no need for you to be able to buy anything online……which is exactly why I don not want it. If you use such tactics to force people to accept digital ids I think there is a very good reason not to have them.
Anyways this leaves me with products like Revolut and Wise, who also as is the case in this thread like to bully their customers into letting them track everything about them.
The GrapheneOS team didn’t have to make this fix. It is not something that has anything directly to do with the workings of GrapheneOS. But they did anyway.
And I’m so very thankful to the GOS that they did. It really helps so much in relation to being able to use GOS as a daily driver.
Many thanks to the entire GrapheneOS team 😊😊
