Im over 50yo but have not been this frustrated about anything in OS\Tech in my whole life. Geo location wtf. I have literary spent days reading threads and talking to AI about making Google Maps geo location find where I'm standing. I've given away every sense of privacy and dignity to Play since long just try to get that frigging blue dot on my map. Whilst running around in a megacity on the other side of the globe for months swearing over GOS. 7 times out of 10 I have no geolocation. Can any compassionate soul kindly provide a few different steps I can try as I resist the temptation to throw my phone and myself off a skyscraper? Geo location using various taxi and food apps works flawlessly, unlike Google Maps + Go. Thank you.

    JohnSmithLolz talking to AI

I did a search in the forums using Duckduckgo and found the thread I linked above. I'm guessing that most AIs out there won't do that, even if it might be a logical approach.

Edit: if that doesn't work, might save forum members some time if you could describe what you have tried so far.

Thank you. Yes, now remembering its one of the threads I followed that never lead to any improvement. I have installed via Play just as OP suggested. I have in a non systematic manner tried every setting I have been able to find in the OS giving as much rights to the Maps app and Google as possible (which ofc was what I initially wanted to avoid by buying this phone).

JohnSmithLolz I assume that a reinstall of Google Maps has been tried?

I vaguely recall that Play Services might need the location permission, but that might've been regarding some other app. Is it acceptable to try that?

Yes done that. Also with Maps/GO. But to no avail.
