I am new to this. Where do you go to find trusted APK's? Graphene has no basic apps so I am needing a lot of apps. I do not want to use Google Play store because I do not want to have to create a google account. I need Alarm Clock, Calendar, Waze, Proton mail app, signal, weatherbug app, a notes app, etc.

I also need to import about 200 contacts from my old phone into this phone. Any clue how?
I also have about 100 different notes from my old phone to import. They are in txt format.

Thank you for any help provided.

There's a clock included with the graphene apps. For ProtonMail, go to their GitHub for the apk, you can grab a calendar from there as well.

In Accrescent (in the Graphene app store) there's BeauTyXT for notes. You can also get ProtonPass and use the notes feature in there.

On the Signal website, you can download their apk from there to run without Google services. Conversely in Accrescent you can also use Molly (a fork of Signal).

For contacts, see if you can download a .cvf file and import it into the graphene contact app.

cpeikert There are roughly five ways to install apps: Google Play Store, F-Droid, Aurora, directly from the developers (e.g. from Github), or through alternative web stores like APKMirror. Aurora downloads apps from the Play Store, but without the need to log in. Furthermore, you can use Obtanium to ensure that apps from Github, for example, are updated automatically. I use Obtanium for apps that are reputable like Signal and Protonmail, and the Play Store for apps that are not offered in a secure alternative way, like my banking app. Side of Burritos made a nice video on how to use the Play Store in a private way on GrapheneOS. F-droid is nice and easy to use for installing open-source apps, but it has some security issues, which have been discussed several times on this forum.

Ok so how do I get the files onto the phone without cloud? I cant get proton files app or website to work at all atm. I tried a USB drive and the phone will not see it.

You may have to reformat the USB for android. Just look that up, any one I've used seems to work out of the box. But reformatting could help you out.

You could also try using a USB cable, like the power cable, to transfer from device to device. You may need to go into Settings > Security & Privacy > Exploit Protection to make sure your Graphene phone port will allow data transfer.

Or you can turn on Bluetooth, pair both devices and move what you need over.

Just gave it another thought and you may want to check in
Settings > Security & Privacy > Exploit Protection to make sure your GrapheneOS phone port is allowed to accept data transfer. Then try other steps offered in the thread.
