I recently got an ESIM for a foreign trip so that I could get cell coverage without removing my domestic SIM. Having returned, I have tried to delete the ESIM but I keep encountering the message "something went wrong and your SIM could not be turned off" (when trying to turn off the SIM) or "Something went wrong and this eSIM wasn't erased. Restart your device and try again" (when attempting to reset mobile network settings or erase the individual eSIM)
Another error I encountered was when I changed my default SMS app while on the airplane. Having encountered these two errors in close proximity to each other, I am unsure whether or not they are related.
I have always used a 2022 version of Textra that I would install via APK, because this version predates requirements that it connects to Google Play Services. I changed my default SMS from that app to another, and when I try to revert my default SMS app back to Textra, I encounter a message that says:
App was denied access to be default SMS app
The app requested access to sensitive permissions which can put your personal and financial info at risk. It's possible the app won't work properly without these restricted permissions. Learn how to allow access.
The link that says "Learn how to allow access" is unresponsive when tapped. An app uninstall/reinstall was not effective, nor was resetting cache/storage, and various permissions.
On a second user profile, the OS allows me to change the default SMS to Textra, but will not allow me to change it to Google Messages (which is remnant from an unsuccessful attempt to enable RCS messaging which I never got to work). The app appears as an optional SMS app, but is grayed out and cannot be selected. The stock messaging app that comes with the OS is not sufficient for my needs because of the lack of message searching functionality.
Is anyone else encountering a similar issue?
