cybermattic What is the benefit for me to lie about meaningless such thing?
Maybe I missed the part of the thread where somebody suggested lying. Can you point it out?
cybermattic I'm citing myself to highlight the silence on this issue. Google Support itself acknowledged it.
Even if one person working for Google (or working for a Google contractor) said that, that doesn't make it true, because people sometimes make mistakes (and it's even possible that the Google support person said something that was misinterpreted). Generally if "the Pixel engineering team" decides to add or remove a feature, Google announces this publicly (including on the Android developer web site) and it's covered widely in the press.
cybermattic I'm not saying they are discontinuing it, you read what you want to read, I say they are not enabling it on all devices even if on Android 15, and I don't know the reason why.
But earlier in this thread this text occurs, apparently posted by your account:
cybermattic The Pixel engineering team decided to remove the Private Space feature. As of now, no Pixel device using Android 14 and higher supports it, you reinstall your device, you lose the feature.
It is difficult for me to understand how to read "decided to remove the Private Space feature" and "no Pixel device using Android 14 and higher supports it" as meaning "not enabling it on all devices".
cybermattic But eh oh, believe what you want.
It seems multiple possibilities are being discussed:
- "No Pixel device using Android 14 and higher supports it" (seems very incorrect!)
- Google is "not enabling it on all devices" (seems as if user testimony supporting this is quite thin at best!)
- A Google support person told you something that is incorrect (this happens!)
- A Google support person told you something that was misinterpreted
If what one Google support person says seems much more trustworthy than other possible sources, perhaps (as suggested on February 4 de0u) it might be good to ask a second Google support person whether "The Pixel engineering team decided to remove the Private Space feature" is or isn't accurate.
