Pre-build APKs: (use with caution)
https://k2-fsa.github.io/sherpa/onnx/tts/apk-engine.html
Pocketstar I'm sorry but it confused me. I don't know which to download and if I can trust it...
[deleted] Same here, I have no idea, that is why I indicated people should install it with caution.
I should've been a bit more clear on that, my apologies.
The voices are great on the other hand, especially the kristin-medium voice. (English)
Use the ARM64 v8a voices of you are on a Pixel 6 and onwards.
Version 1.10.27 are the latest as of yet.
Does anyone else know if these pre-build APKs are safe to use?
Pocketstar those are not TTS engines that can be used in Android, right?
The APKs work, I just installed one.
And the models are waay better than espeak.
Ok it seems the "tts engines" work, at least the coqui one worked
missing-root I believe there are TTS engines available for several systems, one of them is Android.
They also have other apps as well. (Vouce to text, etc)
I am not sure how reliable these pre-build apps are, so use them with caution, if at all.
And indeed, it requires a little bit of trial and error to see which TTS is the best, for Dutch, a "newsreader voice" coqui sounds realistic, the other ones are a little flawed.
For English, I find the Kristin medium voice work very well.
Some others are inaudible.
Have a look how they pronounce symbols, numbers, single letters, abbreviations and in non-english also english terms. Also if they make correct pauses, for example at linebreaks with a missing "."
Thorsten Voice medium in german is really good. He contributed over 23h of audio, crazy.

It is indeed awesome to see volunteers put so much effort into their work, it is alot of work that will be appreciated by the many that use their software, just like the Graphene project; it is amazing how much love, time and care is put into it by its developers.
In my opnion these tools are very rare in the world of today, but it should be the other way around if the world had common sense, less proprietairy blackbox spying software and more software with a free license, and lots of people donating, that would be a dream.
