  • Req info on wifi auto-connect and auto-off

I have used the auto-off feature for wifi for years. If I leave my trusted wifi AP's, wifi turns off after # minutes.
I recently discovered the Auto-Connect feature for wifi.

Would someone explain how these options can both be on at the same time? It seems to me auto-off enabled would prevent auto-connect from working after I return in range of my trusted AP, having been away ># minutes (e.g., how can wifi know to auto-connect when it's turned off). I've not done any extensive testing but my observation is that auto-connect is working making me wonder if auto-off is not.

To be clear, I'm not complaining or calling a bug, just asking for clarification on how these two work together.

Auto-connect will only work if WiFi is turned on first.

    Correct.

I have a faint sense that on Google's OS the fused location provider can use GPS and/or cellular positioning to turn Wi-Fi on when the device believes it's near your AP.
