Are there any aspects of GrapheneOS (SW side) that will prevent me (or limit severely) from using GrapheneOS pixel as MIFI router instead of dedicated one like d-link?
For example, I'm aware that unlike with mifi, I will not be able to configure hotspot-wide VPN.
Does GOS provides any advanced capabilities (firewalling of hotspot clients, etc) at least via cli commands comparing to "standard" Android?

Disclaimer: I'm not GOS user yet, so can't test it.
Background:
I'm in a need for 5G MIFI for my infra that is currently running on mikrotik mini router (mAP) + 4g modem (iot etc).
Within half a year I'm going to replace my Samsung smartphone with grapheneos pixel 9 (from privacy point of view).
Considering prices for dedicated 5G MIFI like D-Lint DWR-2101 (new 500+, used 250+) I thought I can use any of recommended Pixel devices (6a+) instead.
I have few other tasks to address, like to have backup phone or having non-cloud backups via syncthing, so I would benefit from a device smarter than dedicated router.
So I'm wondering what will make pixel-hotspot experience painful.
Thank you!

mmobder If a phone is run 24x7 for years with the cellular modem under high load it might cook the battery.

de0u I'm looking rather for a feedback on GOS/SW aspect.
Nevertheless, it's not a high load scenario.

@mmobder what are your thoughts on mikrotik? I've been thinking about getting / using some of their stuff. Would love some quick perspective on their product/service.

I unfortunately don't know about the SW in your OP...ie: MIFI. I will say, though, that I haven't found a way to control the device firewall at a low level like in linux...unless i'm missing something, it kinda seems like you're at the mercy of your fw software...the OS doesn't give much power to control things at that level.

johnthelearner it's kinda off-topic for both the thread and the forum, so I won't expand beyond the msg. It's really good (i still keep mAP and mAP mini), but depending on your scenario, I would keep in mind any compatible with openwrt
