Are there any aspects of GrapheneOS (SW side) that will prevent me (or limit severely) from using GrapheneOS pixel as MIFI router instead of dedicated one like d-link?
For example, I'm aware that unlike with mifi, I will not be able to configure hotspot-wide VPN.
Does GOS provides any advanced capabilities (firewalling of hotspot clients, etc) at least via cli commands comparing to "standard" Android?
Disclaimer: I'm not GOS user yet, so can't test it.
Background:
I'm in a need for 5G MIFI for my infra that is currently running on mikrotik mini router (mAP) + 4g modem (iot etc).
Within half a year I'm going to replace my Samsung smartphone with grapheneos pixel 9 (from privacy point of view).
Considering prices for dedicated 5G MIFI like D-Lint DWR-2101 (new 500+, used 250+) I thought I can use any of recommended Pixel devices (6a+) instead.
I have few other tasks to address, like to have backup phone or having non-cloud backups via syncthing, so I would benefit from a device smarter than dedicated router.
So I'm wondering what will make pixel-hotspot experience painful.
Thank you!
