I'm stuck in the web install process. After many cycles of rebooting the laptop and the phone (the phone is in developer mode with the OEM unlocking greyed dark but set on) the loop is as follows"
I start the Pixel 8 and boot into the bootloader The phone stops at the Fastboot Mode in red. Connect the phone via the prescribed USB cable. Then also opened the web installer scrolling down to Unlock the bootloader. I get a msg that the Bootloader is already unlocked. This step does not offer the screen to select the Pixel 8, only did so on the first time through
Next, poke the Download Release (again note the select Pixel 8 was only offered the first time through) it completes and it gets msg Downloaded shiba-install 2024090400.zip
When I next poke the Flash Release button it gives me: Error: you need to download a release first.
And that is the loop.
The phone will boot to standard Android 14 OS. I've closed the Developer mode trying to lock the bootloader looking to get to a fresh start but it won't lock the bootloader.

Do you have 32 GB of available disk space?

Which OS and browser are you using?

Sparky When I next poke the Flash Release button it gives me: Error: you need to download a release first.

This can mean the installing device doesn't have enough RAM or enough storage (check the prerequisites list).

Which version of which OS is being used, which browser, which version?

I have 128gb free disk space. My Laptop is Win 10 with 8GB ram - did update to current after first failed install. Browser is chrome. version 128.0.6613.120 and it is doing an update.

Sparky Make sure you're not using incognito mode, which is known to cause storage issues.

I have laptop with win 10 128gb free space and 8 gb RAM. Windows did a major update after first failed attempt, also did the USB update after later failed attempts. Browser is chrome version 128.0.6613.120 and just updated to 128.0.6613.138.

Not using incognito for google chrome.

Sparky Could you try using one of the other supported browsers, such as Edge? Make sure to exit Chrome before you do that.

I opened and used microsoft edge and that worked just fine. It is installed, done. Thanks so much for your help.
