I recently installed Graphene on a Pixel 5a. I had switched to my secondary profile on which I installed sandboxed Google Play. I got a notification about a permission missing so I opened it. I got the app info and then the screen froze. After trying to tap a few things and pressing the power button the screen went black and has been unresponsive since. I tried holding the power button, for 30 seconds, 60, with each volume button separately and with both of them together, so far nothing has worked. When i tried plugging it into a computer last night, it showed up with a long name I didn't recognize. Now it won't show up at all. Has anyone encountered something similar before? I can't seem to find any existing forums about this specific issue.

rastachio Unfortunately these symptoms, and especially the pattern of escalation, sound consistent with a catastrophic hardware failure. You might be able to confirm that with a repair shop.

de0u took it to a repair shop and the problem seems to be the charging component. Unfortunately the shops in my area don't usually deal with Pixel phones and therefore don't have spare parts. Still unclear why this happened, though I have a feeling it might have to do with Graphene or the installation because the phone had been working fine with no issues for about three years. Thanks for the advice!

A quick search online for "Pixel 5a won't turn on" turns up lots of hits, including these:

Hardware failures do happen (sometimes suddenly). Any time a phone fails, it is running some OS, but the cause of a hardware failure is generally some hardware component breaking.
