As the title says. The Zoom Enhance feature was released for Pixel 8 and 9 recently and is available in the latest version of Google Photos but I don't see it nor get a suggestion to download additional tools (like we were doing with other extra features). Connected to wifi and allowed network access to both Google Photos and sandboxed Google services with no luck.

Did anyone receive this feature? I wonder if Google Photos requires some onboard AI tools that are not present in GOS. Or its just a matter of time for it to download?

Volen I have it. Had to allow network to Photos to download AI stuff. Then I restricted network again.
It looks like you might need photo backup turned on to save the edited photo. I tried twice and both times Photos just closed with no warning when I clicked save as a copy and I couldn't find the new pic anywhere. I also tried with network permission active. FWIW, I also tried Super Image (link on F-Droid) and was able to get similar results.. maybe a little better in my opinion. At work, so can't put more time into this. I'll watch the thread though.

    Photos permissions are:
    Contacts
    Photos and videos
    Sensors
Network - tried on and off

Thanks for the info! I use P8 Pro too. I again allowed all the permissions, connected to wifi and made sure I am not on VPN just in case, with no results.

As I am not logged in to Google account, it doesn't offer me to backup so I cannot test it but your suspicion does make sense and this might require a cloud operation to proceed, just like night vision on videos (which is very unfortunate).

I actually did use the Super Image app for a while and its not bad (although a bit slow), I just wanted a native method instead (and afaik the f-droid version is no longer maintained, we need to buy the play store version instead).

Maybe others might also try and report back but it does seem the backup is the culprit.

Thanks a lot again, very useful!

Volen I didn't catch that about Super Image. It is in fact, an old, unmaintained version. I was grabbing it through Obtanium. Thanks for pointing that out.

Doesn't seem to save even with backup on, think may be a grapheneOS issue sadly 🙁

012476432 Volen Try turning on "exploit protection compatibility mode" for the Photos app. Just tried it with two pics and it saved.

            012476432 com.aurora.store

I'm not sure if this applies to the photos app, but make sure you selected a Pixel phone in Aurora's spoof manager. Other apps, notably the Pixel Camera app, have slightly different versions for different phones. Maybe this could be what's causing the problem? If you do try, it would be nice to know if that fixed your problem.

Sure I tried that before but did it again and worked a treat. Thanks for that, appreciated good Sir!

@other8026 prev post advice worked for me but appreciate anyone trying to assist. Thanks.
