I'm used to turn my phone off when it charges. And before, when it was off but charging, you just had to press power button once and you had the battery icon in the middle of the screen with the percentage.
Since a few weeks, this does not work anymore. When the phone is off and charging, pressing the power button does trigger any action. The screen just remains black. I have to turn the device on just to check the battery level and then turn it off if not high enough.
It stopped working a few weeks ago on my Pixel 6, but as i was about to upgrade to the 7, i thought this would be back. Now i have installed GOS on the 7, i can see it still does not work.
Is it related to my phone? Or did this feature just disappear? I would like to see it back, it's pretty useful!
Charging status not displayed when phone is off
Its a known issue being worked on.
- Edited
poubellier as nrt said it is being 'worked' on but in reality should be fixed for the next release:
Uses higher quality animation on 4th/5th gen, 6th/7th were missing it entirely and this was a regression traced from 2022101600.
- Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro: add back Pixel charger mode image overrides removed in the 2022101600 release (fallback images aren't included on the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro so these images were completely missing on those devices)
