  • Default Folders Reappearing After Deletion/Google Camera App Save Location

Whenever I delete the system generated default folders "Android," "Movies," and "DCIM," they reappear after a certain amount of time, or after a reboot. As I do not want these folders, is there any way to prevent this? Thanks.

Additionally, I downloaded the Google camera app, and there seems to be no way to change where it saves photos and videos. Is there any way to make it save in a specified location, so I do not have to move files every time I take a photo or video? [This may have been brought up before.]

Thanks in advance for your response.

They're system folders, so obviously not. I imagine they likely need to be there in case apps depend on default storage locations (hence the folders returning on reboot).

what's so bad about these folders?
and deleting the "Android" folder can be a problem

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will have to move all of my personally curated files into a separate folder, so I don't have to navigate around the folders I won't be using. It's too bad there's no workaround.

Note: I am still curious about the Google camera folder issue.

I'm not saying this is a good idea, but you can technically stop these folders from being recreated. Due to the nature of the filesystem, you cannot have a file and folder of the same name. So you can delete a folder and then create a file in its place with the same name. For instance, Android would see a file named DCIM and won't be able to recreate the DCIM folder. I did this out of curiosity with the Android folder once and had to completely reinstall the OS. Don't recommend.

Also I don't think Google Camera allows you to change the save location.
