Hello @all,

I recently use a Google Pixel 8 Pro with GrapheneOS and have been reading various discussions online regarding its support for SIM and eSIM cards in JAPAN. I've come across some reports suggesting that there might be issues with the functionality of SIM cards on the Stock OS in JAPAN.

Has anyone experienced problems with SIM or eSIM support on their Pixel 8 Pro - GrapheneOS? I would appreciate about some advice which provider will work or will not work, is the connection stable to use.
For me isn't it a problem to buy a Sim or eSIM.
I look forward to your advice.

Thank you in advance for your help!
Best Regards!

GraphiRakki Pixels are sold in Japan, so they should work just fine. Also, I know of a few people who went there and had no issues.

Ubigi Esim confirmed to work in both South Korea and Japan on both pixel 7 and 8. Great rates too.
Preinstalled and loaded in Europe then just enabled there upon arrival.

Airalo ESIM worked perfectly well in JP on my Pixel 8 recently.

    Hello everyone,

    thanks for the information.
I bought an esim from Japan Experience and everything is working perfect.
Preinstalled and activated in Japan like as described on the offical Website.

    Thanks.
    Best regards!

I had issues with esimx eSIM (Japan-only plan). It activated successfully but did not connect to any network.
It turns out you need to add APN manually. For esimx it's "3gnet".

After that, the network instantly connected to KDDI LTE. Softbank also works (but KDDI is "native" for this SIM, while Softbank is "roaming").
    That's with Pixel 8a.

P.S. for anyone wondering, I would NOT recommend this eSIM. It routes the internet via Hong Kong (and you get Hong Kong IP address) with pretty low speed. However this is the cheapest plan I found (20 GB for 30 days for $16).
