  • Location services, what do you do?

So I’m trying to avoid play services on my phone but I do need navigation on occasion. Are there any workarounds to getting faster gps lock without using play services? It normally takes me 3-5 minutes to lock and that is quite inconvenient when starting a drive.

One option I considered is a second profile with play services and google maps and to utilize this profile for drives. But I often go on 2-3 hour drives and would need to be able to take signal/other calls that originate in my primary profile while leaving the navigation active in the secondary profile…

Hoping there is some tip/trick I’ve just missed!

How are you using location services currently? I use OSMAnd+~ from F-Droid combined with https://opensupermaps.com/ to get directions. I agree GPS Lock through location services takes a little time, but I haven't found that it takes quite five minutes. But at the minimum you should be able to get directions from Point A to Point B in OSMAnd without the need for location services.

Have set GrapheneOS proxy as a PSDS server in the network parameters ? With that option, it takes me about 20 sec to catch the position while I am indoor.

Can you explain that to me, I’d like to try what you’re saying but I don’t understand?

Also I assume that helps even without play services installed?

    Thanks!
