yellow-leaves I'm wondering whether the install prompts shown when installing new apps from the Google Play store on grapheneOS is a general necessity to gain the privilege to install news apps, or update apps previously installed from an other source. Or maybe a prompt isn't necessary and other stores are able to install new apps without a user interaction given that they have been given a general permission to install apps? yellow-leaves [deleted] hmm, perhaps my wording was somewhat unclear before. What i meant was weather GOS always displays a prompt before allowing a new app to be installed and weather the same applies when updating an existing app installed from an other app store.
[deleted] yellow-leaves Yes its displayed both for new installs, and for updating from another source than install origin.
[deleted] But since you can only update apps that have the signiture matching with the last update's, you should be safe to install updates. If its not coming from the same developer, then the update will fail.
