Hello,

I would like to buy a Pixel 7 pro to use GrapheneOS on it. I live in Europe and the one I want to buy is an US version « unlocked » as said by the seller. I saw in the documentation US version can block the installation of GrapheneOS. How can I know if this phone will be compatible ?

Thanks

Astiras The problem is that "unlocked" may mean carrier-unlocked, which is not enough, and/or OEM-unlockable, which is necessary for installing GrapheneOS.

Confusingly, when buying from the Google store, "unlocked" does mean "carrier-unlocked and OEM-unlockable". I believe the same is true when buying from Best Buy.

But if a device is bought from eBay (etc.), "unlocked" may well mean only carrier-unlocked. This is particularly common for Verizon devices, which are often carrier-unlocked but never OEM-unlockable.

If it's a used device, ask for a screenshot of the developer-options screen with the "OEM unlocking" slider on the right.

What does the US version offer you that you can't find on others? I ask because my 8 pro came from a UK eBay seller, and was not fixed to a network, nor was it locked down. So if it fits the needs, we have sellers that could help
