I’m installing GOS on a new 8a. Everything was updated per the install instructions using the web installer on windows 11, using MS Edge.

I was able to unlock the bootloader, download the release, but at to the flash release stage, it was working well and now it stopped at the FastbootD screen and the web browser is stuck in “Restarting device”. I left the phone in this state for over 1hr waiting to see if it was just a time/process issue.

I tried reinstalling, rebooting my computer, changing the cable, even trying different USBC ports. I even chose to try “Restart to bootloader”, but got a error message on the web installer and not able to lock the bootloader.

Any suggestions on how to proceed would be appreciated.

User-C Were the Windows fastboot drivers installed? If the device is unplugged, then booted into the bootloader, then plugged in, what does the Windows device manager report the device as?

      de0u

de0u I double checked. ADB was installed and the path was correct in the environment paths and the Device manager recognizes the phone as “Portable Device, Pixel 8a”

I still get stuck at the FastbootD

That doesn't necessarily mean that the required fastboot drivers are installed. What happens if you try the following?

        1. When the phone is booted into the bootloader interface and connected to the computer, go to Windows Updates
        2. Click on the "Check for updates" button. Wait until it finishes checking for updates.
        3. Check for the drivers under Optional updates and install them
        4. If no Android driver is shown, repeat steps 2 and 3 several times until you see the driver

The driver names will include "Android", perhaps also "Lemobile".

I got it sorted. I installed the additional driver the first time, rebooted my machine, but I didn’t go back to make sure there weren’t any new additional drivers that needed to be installed. They had 3 more I needed to install.

Rebooted my machine again and installed like a dream.

fid02 thank you. That was literally the problem. The additional drivers didn’t show the first time
